Teen Court enjoys receiving strong support from the Colorado Springs legal community. Local judges and attorneys volunteer their time to preside over trials and mentor student attorneys. Law Day is a national recognition of the importance of the rule of law in our country. As a part of Law Day 2013, two special events raised funds to support Teen Court programs:
*On May 3, the El Paso County Bar Auxiliary hosted a reception honoring local judges and their spouses at the law firm of Sparks, Willson, Borges, Brandt and Johnson, P.C. Donations from the annual event benefit Teen Court. The Bar Auxiliary founded Teen Court in 1994 and continues to support us with donations and volunteers. The Bar Auxiliary raised $2,800 in donations to celebrate Teen Court's 20th Year!
*Members and supporters of the El Paso County Bar Association laced up their running shoes and ran to support Teen Court on May 31 in Monument Valley Park. Proceeds from The Law Day 2013 Race, sponsored by The Ben S. Wendelken American Inn of Court, benefited Teen Court and our programs. Teen Court staff, board members and volunteers ran and walked the 5k race. The Inns of Court raised and donated $2,285 to support Restorative Justice for Teens by Teens! Below, El Paso County Magistrate Jill Brady presents the check for the race proceeds to Debbie English.
